Medicine Lake and the Big Muddy Creek country of far northeastern Montana — glaciated prairie potholes with cottonwood, ash and box elder in the creek bottoms and shelterbelts. Spring morels in the riparian woods; puffballs and meadow mushrooms on the grassland after summer rain.
