White River NWR / Cache River

White River NWR and the Cache River in the Arkansas Delta — one of the largest remaining bottomland hardwood forests in the Mississippi Valley, with oaks, cypress and tupelo. Spring morels on the ridges; oysters, chicken-of-the-woods and hen-of-the-woods on the big oaks in fall. Check refuge rules; much of it floods in winter.
